This year has definitely taught us to live a little more simple and appreciate what we have around us at home. Whilst most gyms and studios have reopened, we’re still loving at-home workouts. Not only do you save time as you no longer need to travel, you don’t have to worry about beating the crowds at the gym, and there’s something so nice and peaceful about working out by yourself at home, without anyone watching. Here are our favourite at-home fitness apps that help us work up a sweat from the comfort of our lounge room, and help us slow down and unwind.
1. The Pilates Class
As soon as we tried one of Jacqui’s pilates classes we fell in love! There’s so much variety on the app, you can choose from barre, a sweaty cardio class, or a slow yoga-inspired stretch. Unlike many other apps, you feel like Jacqui is in the room with you, guiding you through every exercise, reminding you to focus on your form and breathe throughout the entire class.
2. Keep it Cleaner
If you’re looking for a fitness app that has everything in one, Keep it Cleaner is it. Created by besties Steph-Claire Smith and Laura Henshaw, this app has hundreds of workouts, ranging from HIIT, to boxing, to pilates, a run tracker, daily meal plans and recipes, playlists and an interval timer.
3. Calm – Meditation and Sleep
Slowing down and getting a good night’s sleep is just as important as the workout. As the number one app for sleep, meditation and relaxation, Calm will take you through guided meditations, sleep stories, breathing programs and stretching exercises to help improve sleep, and lower stress and anxiety.
4. Sweat
Created by fitness queen, Kayla Itsines, Sweat features workout programs from the world’s best female personal trainers, including Kayla’s original Bikini Body Guide program, as well as PWR weight-training with Kelsey Wells, yoga with Sjana Earp, and much more.
5. 28 by Sam Wood
Voted the number one at-home fitness app, 28 by Sam Wood gives you access to a 28-minute workout and meal-plan each day which you can ‘swap’, ‘drop’ or ‘shop’ if you want to change things up. Plus you get plenty of support and nutritional advice through Sam and the inspiring online community.
Aside from the fact that you get to work out with Chris Hemsworth and his personal trainer, you also get advice from the world’s best chefs, trainers and well-being experts, and it’s all tailored to you and your goals.
7. Headspace
Your guide to mindfulness for your everyday life, Headspace helps you learn meditation and mindfulness practices to help manage stress and anxiety, and improve sleep, focus, as well as your overall mind-body health.
